Truth to hold onto
Envy quietly eats away at peace. God's wisdom moves the other way: pure, gentle, merciful. He also invites you to name the desire honestly and bring it to Him instead of resenting the person who has it.
“A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.”
“Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.”
A short prayer
Lord, I am envious, and I do not like what it is doing in me. Forgive me. Help me name the desire underneath it and trust You with it. Let me be genuinely glad for others. Amen.
