Guided Prayer
One · Pause
Be still for a moment. Breathe in slowly, and out slowly — three times. There is no hurry here, and no one is watching.
Be still, and know that I am God.
Psalm 46:10 · KJV
Two · Check in
Before you act, pause. What was hurt, threatened, or lost? Anger usually guards something tender.
Three · Scripture · King James Version
“Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil.”
Ephesians 4:26–27 · KJV
“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.”
James 1:19–20 · KJV
“Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still.”
Psalm 4:4 · KJV
Four · Reflection
Scripture does not forbid anger; it warns against what anger can do when it is left to grow. 'Be still' is an instruction for the heat of the moment.
Five · Pray this
Lord, You see what stirred this up in me. I do not want my anger to become sin. Slow me down, show me the wound under the heat, and teach me what to do with it. In Jesus' name, amen.
Six · Now in your own words
Tell God the whole truth of what happened — He can handle your honesty.
Seven · Private journal
What happened, what I wanted to say, and what I actually want to do about it.
Eight · One practical step
Wait before you respond. Write the message; send it only after you have prayed again.
Before you go
You brought your anger to God instead of to someone else. That is real strength.
