Guided Prayer

Happiness and Gratitude

One · Pause

Be still for a moment. Breathe in slowly, and out slowly — three times. There is no hurry here, and no one is watching.

Be still, and know that I am God.

Psalm 46:10 · KJV

Two · Check in

Where do you feel the gladness right now — in your chest, your shoulders, your breath?

Three · Scripture · King James Version

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalm 118:24 · KJV

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

Psalm 100:4 · KJV

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

James 1:17 · KJV

Four · Reflection

Gratitude is not pretending nothing is hard. It is noticing that God has been good in the middle of everything else. Joy grows when it is named out loud.

Five · Pray this

Father, thank You. Thank You for this day that You have made, for the good gifts that came from Your hand, and for the mercy I did not earn. Teach me to hold gladness gently and to give You the praise for it. In Jesus' name, amen.

Six · Now in your own words

Tell God, in your own words, one good thing you do not want to forget.

Seven · Private journal

Three gifts from today, and who they came through.

Eight · One practical step

Thank one person today for something they may not know you noticed.

Before you go

Your joy is not shallow. It is worship. Carry it lightly into the rest of your day.
