Guided Prayer

Grief

One · Pause

Be still for a moment. Breathe in slowly, and out slowly — three times. There is no hurry here, and no one is watching.

Be still, and know that I am God.

Psalm 46:10 · KJV

Two · Check in

Who or what are you missing today? Say the name if you can.

Three · Scripture · King James Version

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Matthew 5:4 · KJV

The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Psalm 34:18 · KJV

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

Psalm 147:3 · KJV

Four · Reflection

Jesus blessed those who mourn. Grief has no schedule and no correct shape. God binds up wounds slowly, tenderly, and without hurry.

Five · Pray this

God of all comfort, this loss is heavy. Be near to my broken heart. Hold what I cannot hold, and let me grieve without shame while You slowly heal what is torn. In Jesus' name, amen.

Six · Now in your own words

Tell God what you miss most, and what you wish you could say.

Seven · Private journal

A memory I am grateful for, and something I still wish I could say.

Eight · One practical step

Let one person sit with you today, even in silence.

Before you go

Mourning is not weakness. You are held while you grieve.
